Talvin Singh
LIVE CONVERSATION AND PERFORMANCE
Meeting Rivers brought the essence of a Bhaitakh, a traditional South Asian gathering for sharing music and stories to Ladbroke Hall, transforming it into an intimate space for listening and connection. In this setting, a sold-out audience experienced Talvin Singh’s music and conversation in a way that felt immersive and personal.
Talvin Singh, a pivotal figure in the Asian Underground movement of the late 1990s, reshaped his musical boundaries by blending Indian classical traditions with the evolving club sounds of electronic music. His work reflects a spirit of experimentation, pushing limits while staying deeply rooted in his classical heritage.

During the event, Talvin shared key moments from his journey from his formative years studying under Lachman Singh Seen of the Punjab Gharana to pioneering his self-invented Tabla-tronics at his iconic club night, Anokha, at the Blue Note in London. He reflected on his creative process, the albums that defined his career, and the ongoing exploration between tradition and contemporary influences that shapes his work.

The evening featured bespoke performances curated specifically for the event, accompanied by exclusive archival photographs, video footage and recordings that highlighted Talvin’s journey and his impact on music and culture.
This gathering was more than a performance. It was a shared space for dialogue, listening and connection - an experience that transcended boundaries while staying rooted in the traditions and the communal spirit of a Bhaitakh.
