LIVE CONVERSATION AND PERFORMANCE

Listening together is a meaningful act. In a world where music often feels private, communal listening provides a rare and powerful reminder of how music connects us.

A Bhaitakh, a traditional South Asian gathering, embodies this spirit of intimate exchange, where stories, music and ideas flow freely, creating moments of pause and connection.

Our ‘Live Conversation and Performance’ event brought this tradition to life at Ladbroke Hall, transforming the space into a modern Bhaitakh where Raf-Saperra’s music and stories resonated deeply with the audience.

Raf is renowned for reimagining Punjabi folk music, seamlessly blending it with genres like hip-hop and UK garage, cementing his position as a leading voice in the global Punjabi music scene. At the event, he reflected on his upbringing in Streatham Hill, sharing trials, losses, successes, signing with Nas’s label Mass Appeal India, and composing music for Paris Fashion Week.

Adding to the experience was the unveiling of never-seen-before archive photography and video from Raf’s personal collection, offering a rare glimpse into his artistic journey.

He also performed live acoustic versions of his songs, including unreleased pieces curated especially for Meeting Rivers.

This wasn’t just a performance - it was a shared experience, grounded in the belief that music is as much about connection as it is about sound.

The event offered a rare opportunity to experience Raf’s music in its purest form - personal, grounded, and deeply tied to the communal spirit that Meeting Rivers celebrates.

A Meeting Rivers event is an intimate gathering that explores an artist’s journey through conversation, performance, and their record collection. Inspired by the South Asian ‘bhaitakh’ tradition, this event offers a unique insight into their life, work and sound.

Hosted by Sach Dhanjal and Kam Bhogal at Ladbroke Hall in London, UK.
